Imagine you curated your garden and wake up and find a deer nibbling at your flowers! Have you been there? Wildlife can be cute in nature but destructive to your plants. Today we will look at some natural ways to deter wildlife from your garden.
First identify the animal that is causing trouble. Some examples are deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, moles and more. Once you’ve done so it’ll be easier to know the best method for you. We’ll be looking at some natural deterrents as well as repellents that we carry in store.
Fencing
Having a fence surrounding your garden is one of the most effective ways to keep animals out. This way, you are blocking access to animals coming into your garden for a snack. It’s a good idea to bury your fence 1’ into the ground to prevent burrowing animals.
Deterring Plants
Many plants and herbs can repel wildlife from your garden. For example, plants that repel rabbits are rosemary and sage. Deer dislike fragrant smells like mint, rosemary, dill and oregano. By identifying the critter sneaking into your garden, you’ll be able to find the right plant to keep it away.
