2022 is here and Farmer John’s is ready to start the year right. Having an indoor jungle comes with so many benefits. Plants can purify the air, boost your mood, and relieve stress. According to traditional Feng Shui principles, plants can also improve energy, bring luck and good fortune into your home. With that, here are 5 lucky houseplants to take you into the new year.

Pilea

Pilea is also known as the Chinese Money Plant because of it’s coin-shaped leaves. These leaves stack on top of each other giving the illusion of a large pile of coins. It is believed to bring luck, abundance, prosperity and is pretty easy to care for. Pilea is a reminder to stay optimistic about your financial matters. Some say they find coins on the street daily after buying a Pilea. They thrive in medium to bright indirect sunlight. They are a perfect complement to the Jade plant which also is known to bring abundance.

Jade Plant

Jade plants are believed to bring prosperity, success, and good fortune during the new year. These popular succulents are great gifts for a new home or business owner. Placing a jade plant in the entrance of a home or office signifies good fortune and success inside. This plant is generally not demanding and good for new plant parents. Jade plants should stay away from pets, they’re toxic to cats and dogs. Try keeping the soil more on the dry side, overwatering can be fatal to your jade plant. Jade plants love bright, indirect sunlight.

Money Tree

The money tree is a symbol of financial success. It is well known among  Feng Shui plants. It has a braided trunk and long green leaves, plus it’s easy to care for! It is said that in order for luck to come in, you must have 3 or 5 in your home. But steer clear of the number 4, as having 4 is bad luck. They are also pet-friendly. Your Money Tree loves bright, indirect light and wants to be watered when the top 1-2 inches of the soil are dry. For the best luck, keep it in the southwest area of your home also known as the wealth section.   When you find a good spot for your Money Tree, keep it there. It doesn’t like being moved and prefers a permanent home.

Peace lily

The Peace Lily is known as the fortune plant. It’s said to have healing and cleansing properties. Known to bring good luck and good fortune. It’s a very elegant air purifying plant to have all year long. Its air purifying properties cleanse all types of environmental contaminants. This plant is pretty low maintenance, keeping it by an east-facing window is ideal.

Orchids

Orchids are the most popular Chinese New Year plant. Since ancient times, they’ve been a symbol for fertility and good fortune in love. They nurture current relationships or enhance the chance of finding a partner. They definitely aren’t a walk in the park for a beginner plant parent. They take some pampering to get them where they need to be. So make sure you do your research before choosing the Orchid as your lucky plant.
