Store-bought tomatoes just can’t compete with the sun-ripened sweetness of one plucked from your own garden. Whether you’re dreaming of salsa, sauce, or that perfect BLT, growing tomatoes is the garden goal of summer.

Basic Care info

Grow in sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil or containers.

Water well after planting – maintain 1” – 2″ of water once a day (depending on the weather) throughout the growing season. If tomatoes do not receive enough water the bottom of the fruit will rot before they can fully develop.

Feed with a slow-release fertilizer during the growing season.

Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.

Stake, cage, or trellis as needed.
